Former Crystal Palace manager, Alan Pardew, has requested to take Yohan Cabaye with him so they can buy a place together in the sun with his £5.8m payout, it has emerged.
Cabaye, who has played under Pardew at both Newcastle United and Crystal Palace is said to be a bit “weirded out” by the deal, but has accepted that it is now inevitable that he will end up wherever Pardew goes.
Cabaye said: “I’m looking forward to my next challenge of living with Alan Pardew.
“It’s not ideal, obviously and it’ll be strange to leave Crystal Palace after 18 months.”
“He’s already been picking out outfits for me; buying me dresses and jewellery and planning day trips for us, but he’s going to use his payout to fund it all, so I suppose I’m lucky in a way.”
Pardew added: “Yohan’s always been very loyal to me – I know he won’t be happy at Palace now that I’m gone, so we’re going to start a life together in Spain.”
Crystal Palace are said to be upset to lose Cabaye, but believe it was worth it to get rid of Pardew.
